There is no denying to the fact that the future lies with alternative fuel powered vehicles and hence a host of auto majors present in the Indian market are charting out aggressive plans to grab a sizeable chunk of this segment.

For instance, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), the market leader with around 50 per cent market share of the passenger vehicle segment is supposedly working on its plan to produce more CNG & LPG units at a lower cost which will take the cost of the variant down altogether.

M M Singh, managing executive officer of production, MSIL said that the company sees a strong demand for the LPG & CNG models in India coming from the major cities and hence it is working on its plan to reduce the cost of the same.

While the main markets for CNG vehicles being Delhi-NCR, Gujarat and Mumbai, it is to be mentioned here that Maruti is planning to come up with CNG variants of its popular models including Alto, Wagon R, Estilo, multi-purpose vehicle Eeco and its sedan SX4 in the coming weeks.
