Abducted IT Couple’s Son Released

Rohit Reddy
Hyderabad: A four-year-old son of a software engineer couple was released nearly 24 hours after his abduction.
Rohit, who was kidnapped on Tuesday evening when he was playing near his house, was released at a roadside at Tekulapalli village on Wednesday evening.

The residents took the boy to the police station who informed the family members in Hyderabad about the release.

Rohit’s visibly relieved father Ravinder Reddy, a senior executive in Cognizant Technologies, said, “We spoke to him over phone. He is in the safe custody of police. We are very happy.”

The release came hours after Rohit’s mother Lalasa made an emotional request for his discharge on humanistic grounds as the child suffered from fever and fits.

"We are very thankful to the media who has given wide coverage and flashed the pictures of my son leading to his release unharmed," Ravinder Reddy said.

A top police source said no payment call was received by the boy’s parents, actually because the landline phone at their house was not working.
