50 Cent launches film production company
London, January 21 : Rapper 50 Cent is working on an expansion plan with a view to including a film production company in his multimedia empire.
The singer, whose real name Curtis Jackson, has already launched moviemaking firm Cheetah Vision.
He is currently promoting the new venture at top U. S. independent film festival Sundance.
His production company is said to have secured the movie rights to eight scripts including The Dance, which will co-starring himself and actor Nicolas Cage.
The singer is upbeat that his film corporation will be a hit in spite of the current economic downturn, as he will finance the firm himself to ensure its success.
"I don''t think it will affect me (the recession) as much as it will the other people that are out there because I''m not afraid to finance some of these things myself if I have to," the Daily Star quoted him as saying.
He is also considering repaying fans hit hard by the economic crisis, by giving away his directing debut `Before I Self Destruct' with his forthcoming album of the same name, due in March.
The movie, written and produced by 50 Cent himself, revolves around an inner city youth who takes up crime to support his younger brother after their mother is shot. (ANI)
