5 killed and 30 injured in Shringar Cinema Bomb Blast in Ludhiana

A powerful bomb blast in a cinema hall in Ludhiana has killed 5 persons and more than 30 have been injured. The incident happened in Shringar cinema hall in central part of Ludhiana. The blast took place near the screen and the cinema hall was full with viewers due to Eid. The blast took place at 9 pm on Sunday during evening show.

Shringar cinema is one of the oldest in Ludhiana and is located in central and crowded part of Ludhiana. Around 700 persons were watching evening show of Bollywood movie “Bhool Bhulaiya” when the blast took place.

The injured have been admitted to CMC hospital in the city. The cinema staff was fast to act and the exit doors were opened. Most of the viewers were rescued safely from Shringar cinema. This is first major incident of a bomb blast in Punjab after the terrorist period ended in the state.

The Police officials have taken charge of the location and investigation will be done by experts. The Police staff has not confirmed the source of blast. Fire Brigade teams came into action very fast and situation in now under control.
