1paise per SMS Plan Introduced by RCom
Taking the currently ongoing tariff war between the county's telecommunication services providers at a new level, Reliance Communications on Friday unveiled its new
1paise per SMS plan, which is expected to take the competition from the voice calls front to a data front.
Under the plan launched by the Anil Ambani Group company, at a monthly rental of a mere 11 Rupees, users can SMS at a highly nominal rate of 1paise for 1 SMS. The plan has been confirmed by the company's President Mahesh Prasad.
The development has come right after Telecom Minister A Raja's announcement that service providers should bring down the SMS rate they currently charge, which stands at 50-60 paise for one SMS.
In addition to the new plan, the company already offers a plan under which users can send around unlimited texts at a per day price of Re 1.
Other service providers are soon expected to follow and bring down the cost of messages.
