On 20th December, the Chief Minister, Shri O. Ibobi Singh inaugurated the 14th Senior National Fencing Championships, organized by the Manipur Fencing Association at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.

Besides teams from the SSB and Services, 22 states and 3 Union Territories are participating in the Championship.

It was announced by the Chief Minister while speaking at the occasion that Manipur has excelled in the filed of fencing. He reported, "Our boys and girls have brought laurels to the state not only in this form of sports but in other sporting games as well."

Other than this, he even encouraged the players coming in to participate in the Championships, to approach him in case of any hardships they faced during their stay in Manipur.
