14 million additions take GSM subscriber base to 421 million
COA has informed that the number of GSM subscribers has increased by about 14 million in the month of March and April. Now the total number of customers has touched to 421 million in the country. These two months have been added huge number of customers in India.
The country is exactly having a consumer base of 421.86 million GSM subscribers. Breaking them into circles, 5.8 million new GSM subscribers were added from Circle B, 4.6 million were added from Circle A while all the metros and Circle C have contributed 2.4 million subscribers in the same period of time.
Uttar Pradesh added maximum number of new customers about 1.5 million new subscriber. Tamil Nadu contributed 1.1 million subscribers among which Chennai was not included. 1.3 million additions were made by Bihar in month of February.
Vodafone gave highest number of registration over 3.6 million among operators. Airtel continued its top position with 127.6 million customers among which 3 million were added recently. BSNL added 2.5 million subscribers, Aircel 2 million and Idea 1.7 million. 280000 subscribers were added by S Tel, a newly launched company.
