Woman builds her own wedding car26-year-old Megan Ashton made her dream come true when she arrived for her wedding in a car, build by herself.

She spent six years to convert a £200 clapped-out VW Beetle into a Porsche 356, worth £25,000. The Royal Navy engineer had purchased a run down old 1969 VW in December 2004 and began remolding it to give it a transformation into her dream car.

After Rob, who is not her husband, proposed her two years ago, she spent £4,000 and all her free time in building the car in time for the wedding. The car now has a new registration place and features only the chassis from the original model.

She installed a new engine, which offers a top speed of over 100mph. the car now features a classy white leather and mahogany interior, a 356 body shell and an authentic steering wheel and speedometer.

Megan said: ''I loved every minute of it and it was such a special moment to be able to pull up on my wedding day in it.

''When I realised the car would be ready in time it was a real dream come true,” she added.
