Vodafone, Tata have until April 19 to bid for C&W Worldwide

Vodafone, Tata have until April 19 to bid for C&W WorldwideTelecom sector firms, Tata Communications and Vodafone now have until April 19 to submit their bids to acquire British telecoms group Cable & Wireless Worldwide.

Tata Communications is likely to announce its decision in the coming weeks. Tata Communications has reportedly appointed Standard Chartered as an adviser for the acquisition. Vodafone has said that it is too early in the process to comment on the merits of acquiring Cable & Wireless. Both Tata Communications and Cable & Wireless did not offer any comments on the reports.

Cable & Wireless Worldwide has a market value of $1.2 billion and has wide ranging assets including UK's largest core fiber network and an international enterprise unit.

Tata has argued that it did not have enough time to device upon the bid as Vodafone while on the other hand; Vodafone says that it does not have enough information to determine if it wants to bid for the company.

Cable & Wireless Worldwide has announced that it has extended the deadline for the bids in order to allow Vodafone and TCL to determine if hey want to bid for the company. The company said that there is nor certainty that any of the two firms will launch a bid.
