Universe is slowly Dying, but there are another 100 billion years
A new research from the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) in Australia has found that the universe is slowly dying, but do not worry as we have another 100 billion years. Findings have been based on the study of 2,00,000 galaxies.
Study researchers were of the view that for the study they have used seven of the world’s most powerful telescopes to observe galaxies at 21 different wavelengths. ICRAR professor Simon Driver said, “It's going to be a slow dwindling process. It's about 100 billion years or so until all starlight stops being produced. The universe has basically plonked itself down on the sofa, pulled up a blanket and is about to nod off for an eternal doze”.
Researchers said that energy generated by the galaxies have now reduced to half in comparison to the level of what it was two billion years ago. The study is considered to be the largest multi-wavelength research to date.
In the next phase, researchers will try to map the history of the universe’s energy. Prof. Driver was of the view that most of the energy has been produced afterthe Big Bang and the additional energy is constantly being released by stars.
The new energy is either absorbed by dust or it travels through the host galaxy. Though it's known since the late 1990s that the universe is slowing fading, the current research is not up to date and prolific study.
