Two dogs were found infected with cholera bacteria in Vietnam
According to health officials, two dogs were found infected with cholera bacteria in Vietnam which has resulted in closing down of 60 dog meat restaurants and slaughter houses across the Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi.
Health officials also said that this close will continue for next two weeks as officials need to check the stock and need to be certain that no infected meat is being sold out in the city.
Le Anh Tuan, director of the Hanoi health department said that owners of the restaurants have to present the proof that their meet is from hygienic sources.
For Vietnamese, dog meat is their weakness and they preferred to eat dog meat in the second half of the lunar calendar month because they believe that it will help them to dismiss bad luck.
Health ministry has asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to test all of the imported dogs for any infection because officials found that infected animals were imported into the country.
