Touch interface a plus on netbooks

Berlin  - Most netbooks featuring a touch display work well. That's the conclusion of a recent test of netbooks by German computer magazine c't.

The magazine put four current models through their paces: the EeePC T91 from Asus, the Latitude 2100 from Dell, the TouchNote T1028X from Gigabyte and the Terra Mobile Edu III. In the magazine's words, the touch interface on the netbooks from Asus, Gigabyte and Wortmann works "properly."

Only the Dell device was unable to win the hearts of the reviewers, primarily because the Windows interface was not attuned to input using the touch-sensitive display.

The Touch netbooks don't offer the functionality of tablet PCs, c't reports. On the other hand, at prices between 450 and 570 dollars, they're significantly less expensive. (dpa)
