There is no link between security personnel and terrorist: Shivraj Patil

Shivraj patilNew Delhi, Mar 18 : Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today informed the Lok Sabha that there is no link between security forces personnel and terrorists.

"There is no nexus between personnel of security forces including para-military forces and terrorists," he said.

Patil said there have been a "few isolated cases of subversion" of security force personnel but it would be incorrect to take it as general perception.

"However, a few isolated cases of subversion of force personnel have been detected which are dealt with firmly as per law. It would be inappropriate to draw any general conclusion of any nexus from such isolated cases," he said.

Patil said the Central Government has taken steps to prevent such activities, which include verification of character and antecedents at the time of recruitment, internal vigilance and surveillance, counselling within the units and periodic sensitisation for force personnel for critical duties.

"We have 700 thousand members of central police forces and if 4-5 cases are detected and draw a general conclusion that a nexus existed between security forces and terrorists would be a very extreme position and this may demoralise the police forces," the minister said. (ANI)
