Prague - Big Brother would like to be watching you. But he can't, because his computer has crashed.
That was the problem occupying European Union interior ministers on Thursday in Prague as they debated the 27-member bloc's continuing inability to share the fingerprints and photos of foreigners entering the border-free Schengen zone because of computer bugs.
San Francisco - Few world-class companies are so closely associated with one man as Apple is with Steve Jobs.
But Tim Cook, the man who is scheduled to step into his shoes at least during his six month medical leave, is credited by many insiders as being an operational genius who deserves much of the credit for Apple's incredible success over the past ten years.
Washington, Jan 15 : Scientists have shown that Hardy's paradox, a proposal that has confounded quantum physicists for over a decade, can be confirmed and ultimately resolved, a task which had seemingly been impossible to perform.
The team of scientists included University of Toronto quantum physicists Jeff Lundeen and Aephraim Steinberg.
"For nearly a century, the widespread interpretation of quantum mechanics suggests that everything is uncertain until it is observed, and that observation inevitably alters reality," said Professor Steinberg.
Washington, Jan 15 : A team of scientists has designed systems that make energy-efficient water purification possible, by harnessing the power of osmosis to harvest freshwater from non-potable sources, including seawater and generate electricity from low-temperature heat sources.
The systems were designed by Robert McGinnis, a Yale University doctoral student and his advisor Menachem Elimelech, Chair of Chemical and Environmental Engineering.
With the intention to expand its impressive line up of ‘Cheetah’ enterprise-class hard drive family, Seagate has launched two new hard drives including the ‘Cheetah 15K.7’ and ‘Cheetah NS.2’.
The company claims that the new drives will help hit the liquidity crisis by offering up superior levels of system performance, capability, consistency and lower power usage.
The company said that the Cheetah 15K.7 drive delivers the fastest performance of any 3.5in drive, whereas the Cheetah NS.2 has the lowest power requirement of any 3.5in Tier 1 drive.
