New Delhi, Sep 4 : China will set up a new observatory station in Antarctica at the region’s highest peak within two years.
“The 25th Chinese Antarctic expedition starting in October will mainly focus on building a new station on Dome A and further exploration of the Antarctican plateau,” said Wu Jinyou, party secretary with the Polar Research Institute of China.
Wu made the statement during a visit on Wednesday to the Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to promote environmental protection.
Washington, September 4 : Computer scientists at Florida Atlantic University, including an Indian-origin researcher, have devised a new anti-hacking system to protect wireless sensor networks (WSN).
Feng Li, Avinash Srinivasan, and Jie Wu say that the Probabilistic Voting-based Filtering Scheme (PVFS) they have devised can help improve the viability of WSNs, which are used for detecting and reporting events like hurricanes, earthquakes and forest fires, as well as for military surveillance and antiterrorist activities.
In the International Journal of Security and Networks, the researcher point out that there are two types of cyber-sabotage that might occur on a WSN.

New Delhi, Sep 3 : Amid continued reservations of some member countries over granting waiver to India, the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) will hold a crucial two-day meeting in Vienna from Thursday to consider the initiative.
The NSG will consider a draft which is being presented before the 45-nation grouping after amendments following demands by at least 15 countries during the 21st-22nd August meeting.
Countries like New Zealand and Austria, which are still not satisfied with the revised draft, are expected to voice their concerns over non-proliferation issues.
