Suicide bomber kills three in Peshawar
Peshawar, Nov 16 : A powerful bomb explosion in Peshawar’s outskirts of Badhbeer on Kohat Road killed at least three people and injured 21 others.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Peshawar Sahibzada Anis also confirmed death of three people in the blast. He said the blast was so powerful that the nearby mosque collapsed.
He further said that the blast occurred at 7:45 a. m., and added it is feared that some people may be trapped under the rubble.
The police and relief workers arrived on the blast site. There are some children and a woman among the injured.
According to Geo News correspondent, the police have confirmed that blast was a suicide attack, as a car was used in the blast.
The suicide bomber was taking his explosive-laden car to some sensitive place; however, he was signaled to pull over, sources said. But, the suicide bomber on being stopped blew himself up, they added.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani strongly condemned the terrorist suicide attack at a police station in Badhbir area.
The two leaders expressed their deep sorrow and grief over the loss of lives and said the government will speed up efforts to wipe out extremists and terrorists from the country. (ANI)
