Sea lion pup snatched from LA beach

According to an animal rescue expert, a seal or sea lion pup, which has been snatched from a Los Angeles beach early Sunday, could ferociously bite and those who abducted the animal should have been told this.

According to Los Angeles Police Officer Rosario Herrera, a witness said that four people snatched the pup after wrapping it in a blanket and left in a car from Dockweiler State Beach, just west of the city's international airport at around 3:20 am.

According to the witness, the animal was being taunted and harassed before the abduction. Peter Wallerstein, the president of the group Marine Animal Rescue, said the initial police report says the animal was a small seal. However, a companion pup that was found on the beach after it escaped is a sea lion. He said that as they're dangerous, these animals can't be kept as pets.

Wallerstein stays in a trailer at the beach and security guards asked for his help. Wallerstein said the rescued pup weighs approximately 25 pounds and is probably 10 months old. He said that sea lions of this size are "really small, really look cute, but they're dangerous. These are wild animals. The animal needs fluids, needs special treatments. You can't just feed it dog food. It's not going to work".

The matter is being investigated by the federal National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration since baby sea lions come under protected species and police have also started a cruelty towards animal investigation.

According to the witness, the car was a black two-door Honda Civic and the last two digits of the California license plate contained the numbers 5 and 6.
