Revolutionary group gets funded by Atkinson
A group which calls video games and violence equal to making people suffer from lung cancer and has same effects like smoking has, got a huge funding from Michael Atkinson.
Atkinson is himself a politician and an outspoken critique of video games.
In a statement made by the spokesman of Atkinson, he said that the department under him makes annual grants to the Australian Council on Children and the Media. The current funding is a part of that.
The council is running a project named "Know Before You Go", which gives guidance to parents.
The spokesperson was talking to news. com. au. He also said that the trading name used for funding is Young Media Australia.
Meanwhile, an expert of the council, Dr Wayne Warburton, while talking on a news program said that violence in video games has greater impact than smoking has on lung cancer.
This claim is said to be the biggest one that has been made regarding video games, making a revolutionary group on the topic. Post the incident, more than 55,000 submissions were made on the Web, expressing their individual views.
