Dubai, Aug. 13 : Pakistani and Indian communities in the UAE are gearing up to celebrate their 62nd independence days of their countries this week.
According to Gulf News, The Pakistani community will mark its Independence Day on August 14.
The main gathering will be held at the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi and its Consulate General in Dubai. Flag hoisting ceremonies will be held at the missions at 8a. m. The event is open to community members.
The highlight of this year''s Independence Day celebrations is a musical concert -- Jashn-e-Azadi Show -- which will be held at the Dubai Tennis Stadium on Thursday.
Abu Dhabi, August 11 : Three Indian workers, who were duped by a recruitment agent in India, and were left stranded in the UAE, have been provided with air tickets to home.
According to a report in Gulf News, the victims are from the state of Tamil Nadu, who arrived in UAE as a group of ten after they each paid the agent 100,000 Indian rupees.
However, the agent only provided them with visit visas and disappeared upon their arrival in the UAE.
The workers had been promised food and shelter until they were fully settled in their new positions, but were shocked after realizing that they had been tricked.

Abu Dhabi, July 28 : The Naturalisation and Residency Department of the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) may not charge certain nationalities a visa deposit fee to enter the region.
Brigadier Nasser Al Awadi Al Minhali, Acting Director-General of the Federal Naturalisation and Residency Department was quoted by The Gulf News as saying that the mandatory 1,000 dirham visa deposit fee, transit and some other types of visas could be waived for certain nationalities.
The UAE will not charge 34 nationalities for an entry visa and the free entry permit on arrival will remain unchanged, Brig Al Minhali said.
