Ankara  - Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Monday said he saw no obstacles to normalizing relations with historic foe Turkey.

Speaking in Istanbul, Nalbandian said Armenia had no preconditions to establishing diplomatic ties and that he hoped that Turkey also had no preconditions.

"We have started an active dialogue," Nalbandian told reporters in Istanbul where he was attending a Black Sea Economic Cooperation meeting. "I don't think there are any real obstacles to a normalization of ties."

Ankara - Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian arrived in Istanbul on Monday where he will hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Ali Babacan aimed at normalizing relations between the historic foes, the online edition of Hurriyet newspaper reported.

Speaking to Turkey's English-language Hurriyet Daily News before his visit, Nalbandian said he hoped that Turkey and Armenia would establish normal diplomatic relations and that the border between the two nations be re-opened.

New Delhi  - India and Turkey Friday decided to boost trade and energy cooperation and discussed ways to deal with global challenges like the deepening financial crisis and terrorism.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in New Delhi after meeting with President Pratibha Patil and other Indian leaders.

"The discussions with Prime Minister Erdogan will contribute to the upgrading of our relations to a new level that befits the 21st century," Singh said after the talks, adding the two sides had chalked out a "concrete action programme".

Talking to media after his ceremonial reception at President House this morning, Erdogan said that the two countries have come closer and deeper during the last five years to further their commercial and cultural ties.

New Delhi - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan Friday began his official visit to India, during which the global financial crisis, energy and trade will dominate the agenda for discussions with Indian leaders.

Erdogan, who arrived in New Delhi at midnight Thursday on a five-day visit, was accorded a ceremonial welcome by his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in the forecourt of the presidential palace.
