Kathmandu - Nepalese police arrested nearly 300 Tibetan exiles Sunday during an anti-China demonstration in the capital Kathmandu.

Tibet - NepalKathmandu- Nepalese police Friday broke up an anti-China protest in the capital Kathmandu and arrested over 150 Tibetan exiles.

The Tibetans, including Buddhist monks and nuns, were arrested near the Chinese embassy in central Kathmandu.

Police in riot gear stopped the protestors about 200 metres from the embassy's consular section. Minor scuffles then broke out as the protestors tried to breach the police lines.

The protestors were dragged into waiting vans and police trucks to be taken to detention centres.

Tibetan youth Congress activists continue hunger strike in New Delhi

Tibet MapNew Delhi, July 31 : Tibetan Youth Congress activists continued their hunger strike in New Delhi on the fourth day today to protest against Chinese occupation of their homeland.

The activists had on July 28 started their strike to garner international attention for their freedom struggle.

With Beijing Olympics approaching, Tibetans are trying to reinvigorate their freedom movement and protest against what they see as China''s illegal occupation of their homeland.

Being without food or water for past four days has left the crusaders in a state of exhaustion.

Tibetan exiles protest in Delhi

Tibet mapNew Delhi, July 30 : Tibetan exiles living in India staged a demonstration here today outside the office of United Nations against Chinese occupation of their homeland.

Protesters, wearing yellow headbands and shirts with slogan "Save Tibet" written on them, carried Tibetan flags to symbolize their struggle for Tibetan independence.

They shouted slogans against the Chinese government and submitted a memorandum asking the United Nations to intervene and help in fulfilling the demands of six Tibetans sitting on hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for their cause.

Tibetan exiles take out candlelight vigil against Beijing Olympics

Dharamsala, July 30: Continuing with their protests against the Beijing Olympics, Tibetans living-in-exile here took out a candlelight vigil on Tuesday evening.

The Tibetans are trying to reinvigorate their freedom movement against what they see as China's illegal occupation of their homeland.

The vigil was organised by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC).

"People gathered over here to show support to the Tibetan people," said Sonam, a member of the RTYC.

The Tibetans now plan to launch a mass movement based on the principles of Mahatma Gandhi's non-violent struggle under the aegis of Tibetan Youth Congress from August 7.

The Beijing Olympics begins on August 8.

30 Tibetan exiles arrested trying to cross into China from Nepal Kathmandu - At least 30 Tibetan exiles were arrested Monday near Nepal's border with China after they tried to cross into Tibet as part of a protest against Chinese rule, media reports said.

The arrests were made at Batase village, a few kilometres from the border.

The Tibetans, including several monks, had trekked to Batase, about 100 kilometres north-east of Kathmandu, about a week ago, independent Kantipur Radio said.
