Sydney, July 25 : China will not change its policies on Tibet, says expertA Tibetan professor has said that China will not change its policies on Tibet, and added that Beijing will provide 170 billion yuan to Tibet during the period of the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010) to improve social life and infrastructure there.

Rights group critical of Nepal for stopping Tibetan protests

Tibet - NepalKathmandu- An international human rights organization Thursday criticised Nepal for arbitrarily arresting hundreds of Tibetans protesting against China and restricting their right to demonstrate.

The New York based Human Rights Watch said Nepal must respect people's rights to demonstrate freely and accused the police of using "excessive force and sexual assault of women during arrest."

"Nepal's government is turning the screws on peaceful Tibetans," said Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch.

Exiled Tibetans to go on hunger strike from July 28

tibetDharamsala (Himachal Pradesh), July 21 : The Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) will go on a hunger strike from July 28 in New Delhi against the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The protest would be a part of the ''Tibetan People''s Mass Movement'' programme.

Tsewang Rigzin, the president of TYC, told reporters in Dharamshala on Monday that they were demanding the "immediate end to the gruesome suppression of Tibetans inside Tibet and the unconditional release of all Tibetan political prisoners."

Development in Tibet irked the miscreants

Lhasa (Tibet), July 21,: The recent demonstrations by people of Tibet, which disrupted the normal life, according to the Chinese have harmed development work being carried out by the Chinese Government.

The vice chairman of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, Baima Chilin, who was recently in Lhasa, has blamed the Dalai Lama and his supporters who, according to him, instigated violent protests in Tibet.

During the anti-China riots on March 14, the activists had allegedly burnt several shops and a school building in Lhasa. The violence left 18 people dead and several others as injured.
