Karunanidhi promises to implement Sixth Pay Commission recommendations on I-DayChennai, Jan 23 : Tamilnadu Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi has moved a resolution in the State assembly, urging the Centre to take tougher steps to ensure a cease fire in Sri Lanka.

The resolution has been touted the final request to the United Progressive Alliance.

Karunanidhi has warned that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will hold a general council meeting to initiate further action inn case the Government fails to act on the issue.

Centre gives nod to three port projects worth over Rs. 2,000 crore

Tamil NaduNew Delhi, Jan. 22 : The Centre has approved three port projects on public private partnership (PPP) basis for the construction of container terminal at two ports in coastal Tamil Nadu and a coal terminal in Goa.

The Public Private Partnership Approval Committee (PPPAC) under the Finance Ministry had approved these three projects of Department of Shipping at its 22nd meeting on January 13.

M. Annadurai, the project director of Chandrayaan-I on Sunday said that the ISRO proposed to undertake the country''s first manned moon mission by 2020 following the success of Chandrayaan-I.

The Chandrayaan-II mission is expected to be undertaken within a couple of years followed by Chandrayaan-III, Annadurai revealed.

Karunanidhi to raise Sri Lankan Tamil issue with PM, Sonia Gandhi again

KarunanidhiChennai, Jan. 12 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Monday said that he would once again raise the matter about Sri Lankan Tamilians during his meetings with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Karunanidhi said he would ensure bringing about ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in the island nation

"I will once again speak to Prime Minister and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi over the Lankan Tamils issue," said Karunanidhi in the State capital.

Karunanidhi said that the country would do itself pride it could be stop the ongoing war in Sri Lanka.
