PDP’s zonal president shot dead in Baramulla

Jammu & KashmirSrinagar, Sept 25 : Suspected militants on Thursday shot dead a zonal president of People''s Democratic Party (PDP) in Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir.

In recent months, this is the first political killing in poll-bound Jammu and Kashmir.

Ghulam Mohammad Mir (58), PDP zonal president for Rafiabad belt, was gunned down by unidentified militants at 2 p. m. when he was moving in Dangiwacha market of Baramulla district, according to reports.

Pickle markets witness brisk business in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep. 24 : Pickle traders in the Kashmir valley are having a flourishing business during the ongoing Ramadan month when Muslims observe Rozas from dawn to dusk.

Though there is demand for pickles through out the year, during Ramadan month it increases by ten times. Demand for dry fruits, fresh fruit, mutton, chicken also increases.

Local markets are flooded with a wide range of pickles. Almost all the provision stores have set up special stalls solely for the pickles to cater to the needs of devout Rozdars (devout Muslims observing the Roza fasting).
