Srinagar/Mumbai, Feb 9 : The Kashmir Valley is all set to be on the international air travel circuit, after an Air India flight from Dubai lands at Srinagar on February 14.
Srinagar''s international airport is expected to be inaugurated by Congress President Sonia Gandh on the same day.
Involving a cost of 11,000 million rupees, the new terminal building comprises six sections and is spread over an area of more than
200,000 square feet.
Srinagar, Feb. 8 : Paramilitary troops have started withdrawing from the Kashmir Valley on the directives of the Central Government.
The Government announced on February 4 that it would withdraw 133 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) (over 13,000 personnel) from Jammu and Kashmir.
These personnel were deployed in Jammu and Kashmir to maintain law and order during the Amarnath land row and later to ensure peaceful conduct of elections to the State legislature last year.
Srinagar, Feb. 7 : Militants in Jammu and Kashmir have been forcing young girls to get married to them at gun-point only to abandon them later.
Such an instance came to light when sixteen-year-old Fatima Bi of Kishtwar district gathered courage to narrate her misfortune.
Fatima said she was abducted by Sher Khan, the then divisional commander of Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI), a Pakistan militant group four years ago.
