Pak should spend on beating Taliban rather than on India hate monument: EditorialLahore, Apr. 4 : An editorial in a leading Pakistan daily has expressed its surprise that while immediate funds were needed to stop the Taliban from expanding its writ over new regions of the country, millions were being spent on a monument which marked hatred against India.

Court adjourns hearing on Ijaz Ahmad’s bail petition till Monday

Ijaz AhmadLahore, Apr. 4 : A magistrate court has adjourned hearing on the bail petition filed by the former Pakistan middle order batsman Ijaz Ahmed, who was remanded to 14 days police custody in a fraud case.

According to The News, Ahmed could not be produced before the court due to his ill-health, following which the court adjourned the hearing till Monday.

Ahmad has been shifted to the Services Hospital after his condition deteriorated.

Earlier, he was remanded in police custody in a fake cheque case under Section 489-F PPC.

Taliban disrupts work at Pak’s NADRA officeLahore, Apr. 4 : Taliban militants broke into Pakistan's National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office located in Swat, and disrupted the work.

According to a private news channel, the armed talibs broke into the building on Friday morning and directed the staff to stop routine operations.

The group reportedly stopped staff from working because men and women were working in the same place.

The Taliban, then demanded the NADRA authorities ensure that men and women work separately in the office.

According to sources, a suicide bomber tried to crash his explosive-laden vehicle into the Pakistan Army convoy which was on its way to Miranshah from Bannu.

A Frontier Corps (FC) gunman, in an effort to prevent the military convoy from being attacked, opened fire on the attacker's vehicle, subsequently blowing it away.

"What is happening in Swat amounts to a blatant abuse of the rights of our people by non-state actors. The state cannot and must not remain silent at this heinous act of brutal violence against women," the Daily Times quoted, Rehman, as saying.
