JuD chief Hafiz Saeed challenges his detention in Lahore High CourtLahore, Apr. 5 : Challenging their detention, Jamat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and his three associates have filed a petition in the Lahore High Court.

Saeed, Colonel (r) Nazeer Ahmad, Abdul Rehman and Ameer Hamza filed the petition under Article 199(1bi) of the constitution, the Daily Times reports.

The leaders of the banned organization have asked the court to determine if they were being held in custody in accordance with the law, their counsel AK Dogar said.

UN relieved over Solecki’s safe return by kidnappers in PakParis/Quetta, Apr. 5 : The United Nations (UN) has expressed satisfaction over the release of John Solecki, over two months after he was abducted by the Balochistan Liberation United Front (BLUF).

"I''m very pleased that John Solecki has been released. I''m very happy," UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon said.

Moon also appreciated Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Afghan head of state Hamid Karzai for their efforts to ensure the safe return of Solecki.

At least eight members of Pakistan's security forces were killed and four others were injured in a suicide bombing at a paramilitary camp in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.

The blast occurred in the upmarket residential area of F-7/3, where paramilitary troops from the Frontier Corps (FC) were deployed to guard several embassies, UN offices and diplomatic residences in the area.

John Solecki, the regional head of the UN refugee agency in Balochistan, was kidnapped by armed men when he was on his way to work in the provincial capital Quetta on February 2. His Pakistani driver was killed in the attack.
