US drones attacks on Balochistan will be counterproductive: AsfandyarIslamabad, Mar 20 : Awami National Party leader Asfandyar Wali Khan has told to US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson on Friday that drone attacks on Balochistan will be counter productive for Washington.

"I have expressed my concerns to Patterson that drones attacks on Balochistan will be counterproductive for US as well as the region," Asfandyar told reporters here.

Undue interference in my work forced me to resign : Sherry Rehman

karachiKarachi, Mar. 20 : Former Pakistan Information and Broadcasting Minister, Sherry Rehman has said that she resigned from the post due to the excessive interference of some ministers in the work of her ministry.

Rehman said that the unwarranted interference in her work by some ministers had affected her prestige.

She said it was this undue interference that convinced her to quit.

Rehman told media persons at the airport here that she didn’t wanted to destabilize the government, and that her party PPP would not back away from any reconciliation efforts.

New US strategy to continue drone attacks in Pak’s tribal region

PakistanLahore, Mar. 20 : US officials have said that Washington plans to continue with drone attacks in the tribal regions of Pakistan.

They said that these attacks are being initiated as part of the new US strategy on Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The CIA-operated missile attacks carried by unmanned US aircrafts have attracted worldwide condemnation as both civilian and suspected militants have been killed.

White house sources claimed that under the new strategy, the Obama administration would provide enhanced counter insurgency weaponry to Pakistan military.

JeI leader Asadullah Bhutto told The Nation that the Central Shoora of party would decide the future course of action about to file the petition against Musharraf, and the party has not finalized its strategy so far.

Zardari''s government unable to stem Taliban advance across PakistanIslamabad, Mar. 20 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari’s proposal of forming an alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid in Punjab has been accepted by senior members of the Pakistan People’s Party.

According to sources, senior leaders of his party met with Zardari at the Presidency on Thursday, and agreed with his proposal.

The meeting came after Zardari cancelled a meeting of the party’s central executive committee and decided to meet senior party leaders, the Daily Times reports.
