Uttar Pradesh Police arrests four Bangladeshis for human trafficking

Uttar Pradesh MapLucknow, Jan 24, : Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested four Bangladeshis, including a woman, for their alleged involvement in human trafficking.

The Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) circle officer, Rajendra Singh said that they raided Sadar locality of Saharanpur district and nabbed four Bangladeshi nationals on Friday night.

Saharanpur is around 400 km from Lucknow.

The four accused confessed that other members of the group are active in various districts of Uttar Pradesh and other neighbouring states, like, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand.

Kalyan says will campaign for Samajwadi Party

Lucknow, Jan. 21: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kalyan Singh on Wednesday said that he will campaign for the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Kalyan Singh met SP leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh here, and announced that he would be electioneering for the `cycle symbol' in the Lok Sabha polls scheduled to be held in March -April this year.

However, Mulayam Singh Yadav said that his (Kalyan's) decision is only based on the friendship that the two of them share, and it should not be looked as any political alliance.

"He (Kalyan) will campaign for me only as a friendly gesture. This is new friendship not an electoral alliance," said Singh.

Top French bureaucrat says his country will sell uranium to IndiaLucknow, Jan. 18: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who wants to contest upcoming Indian parliament elections from Lucknow, said on Saturday that he would not fight against former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Vajpayee, who is a lawmaker from Lucknow, is not expected to contest owing to deteriorating health.

Dutt, who was convicted in connection with India''s worst -ever Mumbai serial blasts case in 1993 would be a candidate of regional Samajwadi Party, a key ally of the ruling Congress party.

Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt is the SP''s candidate from Lucknow

Sanjay DuttMumbai/Lucknow, Jan. 8 : Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt will contest the 2009 general elections on a Samajwadi Party (SP) ticket. Fellow actor and Bhojpuri film star Manoj Tiwari will also contest the polls from the same party.

Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh told mediapersons on Thursday, said that if Dutt was disallowed from contesting the elections because of the criminal cases against him, the party would move the Election Commission or the Supreme Court.

"Dutt told me you are like my elder brother. He said he would do anything I ask him to though he said he was not a political person," said the SP general secretary.
