Lucknow, Jan. 2 : As people in north India welcomed the first morning of the New Year with a smile on their face, people in Lucknow had a tough time coping with a chilling breeze and dense fog on Thursday.
The dipping temperature with chilling breeze and fog made life too difficult for everyone here.
On Thursday (Jan. 1), local residents in Lucknow braved the chill in the air covered in thick woolens. Some of them opted fighting it by huddling around roadside bonfires.
"We faced a lot of difficulty specially in moving around," said Samul Khan, a local resident.

Lucknow, Dec. 25: Uttar Pradesh Police arrested the Bahujan Samaj Party MLA from Auraiya, Shekhar Tewari, on Wednesday for allegedly killing Manoj Kumar Gupta, an executive engineer of the Public Works Department near State capital.
The BSP MLA Tewari, who already has many court cases for murder and abduction pending against him, was arrested near Raniya in Kanpur district.
Lucknow, Dec 15 : Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) has cancelled invitation to Pakistan team for a friendship match that was to be held in Lucknow from December 19-21 in the wake of last months Mumbai terror attacks.
The championship will now be held among the teams from Nepal, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan and Korea on the same dates.
TFI had planned a second International Goodwill Taekwondo championship between India and Pakistan with an endeavour to strengthen sports relations between the two nations.
