MSTC to diversify into logistics and warehousing business: Paswan

Paswan announces special measures for SC, ST working in PSUsKolkata, Sept 9 : Union Minister of Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers Ram Vilas Paswan on Tuesday urged the Metal Scrap Trading Corporation (MSTC) to play a more active role in making scrap, iron bearing raw materials, coke as well as semi-finished products of steel available and play its role in ensuring adequate production and availability of finished steel at a reasonable cost.

Paswan stated this today in Kolkata while speaking on the foundation day of MSTC.

West Bengal government urges TATA to start operations in Singur

Ratan TataKolkata, Sept 9 : While reassuring Tata Motors, that no land would be taken out of its main plant in Singur or from the vendor’s park, the West Bengal Government has urged the company to start operations at its small car manufacturing unit.

West Bengal Commerce and Industry Minister Nirupam Sen, in an interview to a private TV channel, said, "We have assured the Tatas again that no land will be taken out of the project area and the State Government wants Nano car to roll out from Singur."

Chinese Foreign Minister expects more investments in India

China Flag & MapKolkata, Sept 8 : Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jeichi on Monday expressed a keenness for more Chinese investments in India.

Jeichi, who arrived here on Sunday on an official two-day visit to India, met West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee this morning and held discussions on various issues.

Addressing the media after his interaction with Bhattacharjee, Jeichi said his country would be interested in making investments in various fields including infrastructure building and other areas.

Mamata suspends dharna at Singur after stalemate ends

Trinamool Congress, TATAKolkata, Sept 8 : Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee agreed to end her two-week-long protest outside the TATA Motors’ Nano car plant at Singur after reaching an agreement with the West Bengal Government over land acquisition issue.

Mamata announced last night that the dharna would be called off following the agreement with the State Government after marathon talks at Raj Bhavan between her and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in the presence of Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi.

West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna GandhiKolkata, Sept 7 : West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi has said talks to break Singur deadlock are on track and they would continue on Sunday. He also sais that he expected a "satisfactory" result by Monday.

After presiding over the second round of talks between the State Government and the main opposition Trinamool Congress on Saturday Gandhi told reporters here on Saturday that: "We lead to the satisfactory conclusion in a next session over tomorrow (Sunday) or day after tomorrow (Monday). This is what I wanted to tell you."
