Nepal Cabinet expansionKathmandu, Oct 20 : The CPN (Maoist) and the CPN (UML) have reached an understanding for expanding the current cabinet by Friday and forming a political committee that advises government on political issues.

During a meeting between the leaders of two parties at the Prime Minister Prachanda’s residence in Baluwatar toady it was also decided to make additional efforts to bring Nepali Congress into the government that will help ease the constitution making process

Girija Prasad Koirala miffed at Maoists for ''not recognising'' his contribution

Kathmandu, Oct 20: Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala today expressed dissatisfaction against the Maoists for trying to diminish his role after the political transformation in the country.

Speaking at a function organised by party''s foreign relation department here, Koirala said the Maoist leaders didn''t give due recognition to the contribution he made to the country''s political transformation.

Responding to the call made by the Maoist and the UML leaders to the Nepali Congress to participate in the government, Koirala reiterated that his party would not join the government, but would play constructive role in a new writing Constitution.

Nepal Govt more into plans than statute making: Koirala

Nepali Congress acting president Sushil KoiralaKathmandu, Oct 19 : Nepali Congress (NC) acting president Sushil Koirala has said that the government is giving more priority to formulating ambitious plans rather than drafting a new Constitution.

Speaking at a function here on Saturday, Koirala argued that the current government is similar to a caretaker one and that it should not be unveiling big economic plans.

"The main responsibility of the government is to ensure how the best democratic constitution can be drafted," he said.

According to Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Party President Girija Prasad Koirala will start the campaign at Biratnagar

Sitaula also said that the awareness campaign would be "litmus test" for the party on whether the people are in favor of Nepali Congress.

Nepal Oil Corporation makes profit for first time in two yearsKathmandu, Oct 19 : The state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has made profit for the first time in two years after continuous slide in the price of fuel in international market.

Nepalnews quoted NOC spokesperson Mukunda Dhungel as saying that the NOC will now make profit of Rs 18.1 million a month, as per as the price quoted by its sole supplier Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on October 16.

The price of fuel, which had reached to 147 dollars a barrel (crude oil) six months ago, has now come down to 70 dollars.
