Maoists to hold separate talks with UML, NC

Nepal FlagKathmandu, Dec 20 : Amidst conflict over running the government among the political parties, the CPN-Maoist has decided to hold separate talks with the UML and the Nepali Congress.

According to Nepalnews, the meeting with UML leaders has been scheduled at the Prime Minister Prachanda''s residence this evening.

The discussion with the Nepali Congress has not been ascertained yet.

Maoists said that a joint meeting with both Neapli Congress and UML would be held after the separate talks.

The Maoist decision comes in the wake of incomplete shape of the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC).

Talking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Prachnada said, "There is no question of pulling this government down and forming another."

"If this government is pulled down, there will be huge implications on the country," he added.

He said that given the complicated nature of transition, the politics in the country was becoming multidimensional.

Nepal business sector wary of political influence

Kush Kumar JoshiKathmandu, Dec 16 : Kush Kumar Joshi president of the Federation of the Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) has said that the political interference has been a major stumbling block to industrial growth in Nepal.

Addressing a function here on Monday, Joshi said that political parties have not been sensitive towards the problems facing the business sector.

"Parties remain as indifferent towards promoting the private sector as in the past. Industries have not been able to operate smoothly, mainly due to political interference," he added.

Maoists call for an alliance of nationalists and republicans

CPN NepalKathmandu, Dec 16 : CPN-Maoist has decided to bring nationalists and republican forces into an alliance by including political forces that are committed to nationality and republicanism for polarisation.

The Maoist Central Committee (CC) meeting held on Monday supported the proposal for the republican front tabled by Maoist Chairman and Prime Minister Prachanda.

Prachanda introduced the idea of forging an alliance of republican and nationalist forces at a time when the Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala is talking about the Broad Democratic Alliance.

Nepal constitutional committees to be formed today

Kathmandu, Dec 15 : Political parties in Nepal have submitted the list of their members who will participate in the committees to be formed under the Constituent Assembly (CA) and the legislative parliament today.

As per the constitution-drafting schedule of the Constituent Assembly, the political parties have submitted the names of the members to the CA Secretariat.

They have also finalised the number of members from their parties who will participate in the committees.

The number of members from the CPN-Maoists will be 17 while nine each member will be from the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML. Similarly, the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum will have four members and the Terai Madshesh Loktantric Party will have two members.
