President Patil to cut short her visit to Indonesia

Pratibha PatilBali (Indonesia), Nov. 29 : Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will cut short her visit to Indonesia by two days and go to Mumbai to visit relatives of the police officials who laid down their lives during this week’s terror strikes.

Officials accompanying the President on her ten-day state visit to Vietnam and Indonesia, said on Saturday that Patil would also visit hospitals in Mumbai to meet the survivors of the attacks and commiserate with them.

Pratibha PatilBali, Nov 29 : Visiting Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on Saturday called upon the international community to fight terrorism relentlessly and jointly.

Patil who arrived in Indonesia for a five-day visit on Friday, urged the international community to join hands against terrorism.

"Act of terrorism is high on the agenda of international communities and we must jointly and relentlessly fight against terrorism. This is what is needed and I think that good sense will prevail in all the people," Patil told reporters.

President Patil recalls, lauds India-Bali ties

IndonesiaBali (Indonesia), Nov. 29 : Addressing prominent citizens of the Indonesian tourist resort town of Bali, visiting Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today recalled the historical ties between her country and Indonesia, and added that every opportunity must be availed to enhance this deep understanding and empathy.

Highlighting the fact that trade and cultural contacts between the two countries went back to two millennia, Patil said she was aware of the rich cultural heritage of Bali.

President arrives in Bali

President Pratibha PatilPresident Pratibha Patil arrived in Bali on Friday on a five-day visit to Indonesia.

Her visit aims to enhance ties with Indonesia, a key member of the regional ASEAN grouping.

Patil arrived to a warm welcome in Bali on the final leg of her two-nation trip, which earlier took her to Vietnam, to give a momentum to India's 'Look East' policy initiative to enhance ties with its ASEAN neighbours.
 
During her stay in Bali, Patil would hold talks with her counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on a wide range of issues encompassing political, economic and cultural ties.

Bali bombers''lawyers to sue Indonesian Government over their executions

JakartaJakarta, Nov. 10 : The Muslim Defender Team, the lawyers who acted on behalf the three Bali bombers who were executed on Sunday, have said that they plan to file a lawsuit against the Indonesian Government on the matter.

Alleging a violation of human rights, Agus Setiawan, one of the lawyers, was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying: “The executions were done not in accordance with existing procedures. We are preparing to take legal steps.”
