The number 18 player's place in the field for her final group match later will be taken by Russian alternate Vera Dushevina, to face Anabel Medina Garrigues.

Japan's Kimiko Date Krumm will also reach the weekend semi-finals as a result of Wickmayer's absence.

"As reported this morning, the Flemish Doping Tribunal has informed Yanina Wickmayer that effective immediately they are suspending her from competition due to three filing failures under the Belgian anti-doping whereabouts programme," said WTA Tour Chairman and CEO Stacey Allaster.

The captain of the ship, who survived the accident, said the vessel was hit hit by high waves about 15 minutes after it left Kusamba port in Bali on Wednesday.

"The waves were so big they broke the front deck of the ship," said Kadek Geriya.

Local police chief Moch Yudi Hartanto said 13 people were rescued from the sea but some people might still be missing.

The court in Buleleng district found Philip Robert Grandfield, 62, guilty of having sexual contact with five boys aged between 15 and 17 last year.

Grandfield said he was relieved by the verdict but nevertheless would appeal.

"I thought I might be sentenced to death," he said.


Bali authorities defend dog culls to contain rabies

IndonesiaBali Island, Indonesia - Authorities on Indonesia's resort island of Bali on Monday denied allegations by activists that the campaign to kill stray dogs to contain a rabies outbreak was violating animal rights.

Ida Bagus Alit, the head of Bali's animal husbandry department, said only stray and wild dogs that posed threats to people were being killed.

"There has been criticism from animal rights activists that we are killing dogs indiscriminately," Ida said. "This is not true."

Authorities in Denpasar, the island's capital, launched a drive February 9 to kill stray dogs to contain rabies.


Indonesia, Australia to boost efforts to fight people smuggling

Bali, Indonesia - Indonesia and Australia pledged Wednesday to intensify efforts to fight against human trafficking, and Jakarta will soon to extradite an Iranian national to face such charges in Australia.

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said he and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono agreed that "we would further deepen our cooperation at the operational field level in dealing with the challenges of people smuggling."

Rudd, who was on the Indonesian resort island of Bali to attend a regional forum to promote democracy, said an Iranian national suspected of smuggling people to Australia will soon be extradited from Indonesia.


President Patil to cut short her visit to Indonesia

Bali bombers''lawyers to sue Indonesian Government over their executions

JakartaJakarta, Nov. 10 : The Muslim Defender Team, the lawyers who acted on behalf the three Bali bombers who were executed on Sunday, have said that they plan to file a lawsuit against the Indonesian Government on the matter.

Alleging a violation of human rights, Agus Setiawan, one of the lawyers, was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying: “The executions were done not in accordance with existing procedures. We are preparing to take legal steps.”
