210 acres allotted by AP Govt for TIFR campus The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) has been allotted 210 acres of land on the University of Hyderabad campus, by the Andhra Pradesh Government, for setting up its second campus in the country.

TIFR is headquartered in Mumbai and is an autonomous Institute under the Department of Atomic Energy. With the aim to implement its plans for expansion of research, education and related activities with a projected investment of Rs 2500 crore over 12 years, TIFR had come up with the plan.

Reddy Claims That Developments In Satyam Not To Affect Major AP ProjectsOn Thursday, it was announced by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy that the recent developments in the software giant Satyam group are not going to affect major projects in the state.

Reddy said to a pointed question on the fate of projects like the Hyderabad Metro Rail, entrusted to Maytas, “Satyam is Satyam. Maytas is Maytas. Right now we don't see any problem. Maytas will do it.”

AP Government Keeps Eye On Satyam As Its Share Value Shrinks  The Andhra Pradesh government is keeping a close watch on the developments in the Satyam group as the fate of the Rs 12,200 crore Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Project has become doubtful due to the turmoil in the group. The anxiety in the government is obvious as set back to the project at this stage would blot Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s administration.

The government, however, says that "the project is well on track."

Pratibha PatilHyderabad, Dec 30 : President Pratibha Patil today said that food security can be achieved only through rapid agricultural growth and multi-dimensional rural development.

Delivering the Golden Jubilee Lecture at the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) here, the President emphasized the need for optimum utilization of land and irrigation to ensure food security.

She said that farmers can be made aware and encouraged to adopt improved agricultural practices to enhance productivity. Implements and methodologies should be such so as to reduce the drudgery and hard labour of farming operations.

Mobile tailor of HyderabadHyderabad, Dec. 23 : A tailor in Hyderabad is attracting everyone's attention by offering his personal services on demand at clients' houses. People can call him over his cellular phone and within no time he is at the client's doorstep.

With a sewing machine perched on a handcart, Satyanarayan, the tailor, reaches out to his customers, as he believes it saves them all the headache of waiting for days to get even little tailoring work done at tailor shops.

Unlike the stationed tailors of the city, he pulls handcart himself down the roads in search of customers.

Air Force Passing out Parade in Hyderabad

Indian Air Force LogoHyderabad, Dec 20 : Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted a Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) here today for its cadets who have successfully completed their basic and professional training.

A total of 97 cadets from all branches of the IAF were awarded the President''s commission by Chief of Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal F. H. Major, upon passing out after completion of their training in flying, navigation and ground duty.

The cadets underwent training at Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, AFAC, Coimbatore, Air Defence College, Lucknow and Air Force stations at Hakimpet, Yelhanka and Begumpet.
