Rapist Released From NB Prison House Arrested Again Hours Later In BC
A condemned rapist who is considered at risk to reoffend was caught in Vancouver just hours after being discharged from a New Burnswick prison house on Friday.
Thane Moore has completed a 14-year prison term for beating up and sexually assaulting a 21-year old woman in Prince Edward Island.
A representative for B.C. Attorney General Wally Oppal, on Saturday affirmed that Thane was apprehended in Vancouver, hours after he left Dorchester prison at the country’s other end.
“(The police) had understood that he was going to be going to the Yukon and instead he changed his plans and went to Vancouver,” stated speaker Linda Mueller.
The Globe and Mail reported that Vancouver's high-risk-offenders division caught Thane Moore by using a rarely-used Criminal Code segment.
Under section 810 (2), police force can seize someone for a misdeed they might charge, rather than an offense they are suspected of having charged.
The courts then have the power to lay conditions on the liberation of a suspect.
The Globe stated that Thane Moore is being held over the weekend and is likely to appear in court on Monday.
Moore’s release from prison was already subject to different conditions, comprising that he stand back from the dupe and various other people.
He must also keep away from Whitehorse, Yukon, where he once visited and violated conditions of another release.
