Raj Thackeray Denies Any Extension Regarding The Marathi Signboard Deadline
On Sunday, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, who had backed out from the issue of Marathi signboard, said that deadline has not been extended. The decision was earlier given by the Bombay High Court.
Raj declared it through a release, “I have not extended the deadline to put Marathi signboards on shops.” He further added that no shop owner would be given any extension.
He advised MNS activists to stay calm after the decision of the Court. He reported, “We are watching the performance of the state government and BMC, as they are implementing an old rule stipulating mandatory signboards in Marathi and then will decide the line of action.”
Earlier, a committee of shop owners had requested Raj to extend the deadline for Marathi signboards by three months, which ended on 28th August. Raj however, denied any news regarding the extension by three months on Sunday, claiming it to be a rumor. He further added, “People have changed the signboards into Marathi and remaining are doing it.”
