Princess Diana dubbed ‘disgraceful whore’ by mum
London, Jan 15: Princess Diana was criticized by her mother as a disgraceful whore for “messing around with Muslim men”, the inquest into the princess’ death has heard.
Paul Burrell, Diana’s former butler, told the London High Court that he had been permitted to listen into a telephone call where Frances Shand Kydd blasted her daughter for having a relationship with Hasnat Khan, a Pakistani heart specialist.
Burrell constantly resisted attempts by Michael Mansfield, QC, counsel for Diana’s lover Dodi Al Fayed’s father Mohamed Al Fayed, to disclose what the Princess' mother had said during the telephone call in June 1997, saying: “Respectfully, that’s not very kind to a lady who is no longer here."
However, it was only when Judge Lord Justice Scott Baker, intervened and told Burrell that the information was “relevant,” did he concede.
“She called the Princess a whore and said she was messing around with effing Muslim men and she was disgraceful, and said some very nasty things,” The Sun quoted Burrell, as saying.
He also confessed that it was this telephone conversation that led Diana to cut links with her mother.
The revelation came after Burrell was interogated by Mansfield about Diana’s mother who he said “had expressed herself in extremely forceful terms about Diana’s consorts especially if they were Muslim”. (ANI)
