In response to a petition, about black money stashed in foreign banks, filed in the Supreme Court by ex-Law Minister and renowned jurist Ram Jethmalani and five others, the Additional Solicitor General, Gopal Subramanium, has promised an explanation about the measures taken by the government within 48 hours!

Rae-Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 22 : Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the daughter of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, on Wednesday urged the people of Rae Bareilly to cast their votes keeping in mind the development work done by her mother in the constituency over the years.

Addressing an election rally here, Gandhi told the voters not get influenced by the tall promises made by other parties and maintain its belief on the Congress, who has actually brought a change in the area.

In a petition to the Supreme Court (SC), former Union law minister Ram Jethmalani and others have sought directives to the Union government, for the retrieval of unaccounted money to the tune of Rs 70 lakh crore, which is allegedly stashed in foreign banks and financial institutions.

The petition is scheduled for a review by a three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, on Wednesday, after senior counsel Anil Diwan, appearing for petitioners, made an spur-of-the-moment request for an early hearing of the case.

Mumbai, Apr 20: Senior Congress leader and Maharashtra’s Industries Minister Narayan Rane on Monday blamed the Shiv Sena for kidnapping his cousin brother Ankush Rane, who was found dead on Sunday near Kankavli town in Sindhudurg District.

Ankush was missing from his residence in a village in Sidhudurg District since April 17.

The body was confirmed to be that of Ankush after his family identified it.

Rane alleged that Shiv Sena MPs Sanjay Raut and Vaibhav Naik were behind his cousin’s abduction.

Shimla/Jangipura, Apr 19 : The Congress party has hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for indulging in a low level of discourse during the election campaign.

"There can be disagreements between political parties and political leaders. During the election campaign, there is a debate and discussion but that should be within the parameters of civilised dialogue. Unfortunately, that dignity has been violated and the campaign has been dragged to a low level of discourse by the BJP," claimed Anand Sharma, Congress leader and Minister of State for External Affairs.
