Polish, Palestinian presidents condemn Taliban killing of Pole
Warsaw - Polish President Lech Kaczynski and visiting Palestinian Authority President Mahmud Abbas condemned on Monday the Pakistani Taliban's recent killing of a kidnapped Polish geologist.
"We don't accept terrorism. We didn't accept it and we won't," Kaczynski told reporters in Warsaw, adding that the killing was proof that no country is free from the threat of terrorism.
Pakistani militants released on Sunday what appeared to be video footage of the Polish engineer's beheading. They had offered to exchange him for 61 of their colleagues held by Pakistan.
Abbas gave his condolences to Kaczynski, calling the event "painful and sad."
"The Pole died at the hands of terrorist murderers. These are merciless people, you can't talk to them, negotiate, recognize them," Abbas said. "You can't in any way accept what they do, either them or those similar to them."
Stanczak was seized by militants who ambushed his vehicle in Pakistan's Attock district, 85 kilometres from the capital Islamabad, on September 28 last year. The militants first killed the driver and two guards. (dpa)
