Pfizer signs licensing deals with Aurobindo and Claris

Pfizer signs licensing deals with Aurobindo and ClarisWorld biggest pharmaceutical company Pfizer has signed licensing pacts with two Indian pharmaceutical firms Aurobindo Pharma and Ahmedabad-based Claris Life sciences to expand its portfolio and to strengthen its market position in the pharmaceutical sector.

Pfizer Chairman and CEO Jeff Kindler said, "Today's announcement demonstrates Pfizer's commitment to improving the global public landscape by making needed quality medicines - in a range of disease areas - accessible to underserved populations worldwide."

Pfizer has acquired marketing rights to sell 55 solid oral dose products and 5 sterile injectable in 70 countries under agreement with Aurobindo Pharma while it has acquired rights to market 15 injectable products in the therapeutic areas including anti-infective and pain. The medicines to be marketed also include antibiotics and anti-infective, especially for cardiovascular and central nervous system disorders.
