Rawalpindi, July 26 : As embarked on his maiden official visit to the United States on Saturday, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said that his government is determined to fight al Qaeda and the Taliban, as it saw this battle as its own.
Islamabad, July 25 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Reza Gillani said on Friday in unequivocal terms “no one has the power to dissolve the country''s assemblies.”
Talking to reporters here, the Prime Minister said all the issues including judges restoration and President’s impeachment will be resolved in the Parliament.
He said unlike previous governments, the purpose of his scheduled visit to the US is not to strike any kind of deal. All the decisions will be made for the greater interest of the country, Gilani added.
Hyderabad, July 23: The erstwhile ruling party in Pakistan, the PML-Q has alleged that the Yousuf Raza Gilani government was in fact a “government-in-exile” as all important decisions were being taken by PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. It accused the government of ignoring the parliament.
Addressing a ‘Meet the Press’ programme of the Hyderabad press club here on Tuesday, PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and secretary-general Mushahid Hussain Sayed said: “It is in fact a government in exile”.
Washington - US President George W Bush plans to meet Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on July 28, when the two leaders are expected to discuss the fight against terrorism, economic development and regional cooperation, the White House said Thursday.
"The US-Pakistan strategic partnership is grounded firmly in the shared objectives of promoting democracy and combating extremism," the White House spokesperson said in a statement.
