Islamabad, Apr 18 : Nuclear assets in Pakistan were placed in safe and secure hands, the country’s Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has claimed.
He expressed satisfaction over the effectiveness of command and control structures of the country's nuclear capability, saying the structures, which, according to him, had matured, were well conceived and elaborate.
“It has been ensured that while our nuclear assets are safe and secure, the force development as per needs of Pakistan's minimum deterrence is progressing well,” The News quoted Gilani as saying here last evening.
New Delhi, Apr 18 : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L. K. Advani has written a letter to Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and sought clemency for Sarabjit Singh, the Indian on death row in Pakistan.
"I wrote it through government as it was not appropriate on my part to write a letter to him on a personal level. I was told that letters from the embassy are dispatched once a week. I had told the foreign secretary to inform me when the letter is delivered to him, so I have received confirmation of the delivery of the letter. I expect that justice is done to him," Advani said on the sidelines of a book release ceremony.
Islamabad, Apr. 15: Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has said that Pakistan seeks peaceful solution of Kashmir issue through dialogue process.
While talking to the visiting Kashmiri President, Zulqernain Khan, who met him at the PM House on Monday, Gillani said that masses would be taken into confidence over UN Resolutions regarding Kashmir, and vowed to keep up the political, diplomatic and moral support of Kashmiri masses in their bid for Independence.
Islamabad, Apr 15: The new PPP-led government in Pakistan will shortly devise a counter-terrorism policy for the country's intelligence and law-enforcement agencies, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said last evening.
Attending an intelligence briefing at the ISI Headquarters, Gilani said that his government would financially support ISI's efforts to combat the menace of terrorism.
Islamabad, Apr 10: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani on Thursday said that Wednesday’s Karachi violence in which eight people had died appeared to be a conspiracy hatched by opponents of democracy.
Coming down heavily on the perpetrators of the violence, Gillani said his government would not compromise.
“We must take notice of these unjustified, mischievous and definitely conspiratorial acts,” Gillani told parliament.
