Kathmandu, Aug 23: Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda is scheduled to leave for Beijing today to attend the Olympics closing ceremony.

During his visit Prachanda'' will meet Chinese President Hu Jintao.

He will also meet Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. He will attend a luncheon hosted by Jiabao in honor of visiting heads of State and Government.

The first meeting of the newly formed cabinet held on Friday night approved the decision to send an eleven-member delegation that includes his wife Sita Dahal, Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara and government officials.

Kathmandu - Nepal's new Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Saturday called for national reconciliation to bury past enmity that saw thousands of people killed in a decade-long armed insurgency.

The premier, also known as Prachanda, is a former Maoist guerilla commander who led the insurgency.

"I ask the Nepalese army, police, armed police and the National Investigation Department to forget the bitter past born out of the conflict and urge them to forge national unity and move ahead," Prachanda said in his first address to the nation since taking office last week.

Kathmandu, Aug 22: Nepal’s three-party alliance leaders have unveiled their Common Minimum Programme (CMP) for the new coalition Government and hope to form the new cabinet today.

Leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal- Maoists, the CPN (Unified Marxist-Leninist), and the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) met on Thursday to finalise the CMP and the allocation of portfolios.
