Tehran, Nov 2 : India and Iran have decided to set up a trilateral Ministerial mechanism to resolve various issues related to Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Iranian Oil Minister Gholam Hossein Nozari took the decision at a today. ehran on Saturday.

Under the mechanism, the Oil Ministers level meeting between India, Pakistan and Iran will take place to address different issues related to the project, said an External Affairs Ministry spokesman to reporters.

Tehran, Nov 1 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday said that New Delhi is working with Islamabad to resolve outstanding issues and insisted that the 7.4-billion dollar Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project can be finalised through cooperation of all the three countries.

New Delhi, Oct 31 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will begin his three-day visit to Iran from today to discuss ways to push the proposed trilateral gas pipeline project.

During his visit, Mukherjee will attend the Joint Commission meeting during which the two sides are expected to discuss various other initiatives to enhance their ties.

The two sides will also hold talks on several issues, including trade and business to enhance the bilateral ties.

Kolkata, Oct 28 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee has ruled out military action as solution to the ethic conflict in Sri Lanka.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, Mukherjee said, "India believes military solution cannot resolve the ethnic issues of the Sri Lankan minorities. For that, the devolution as recommended by the high power committee should be implemented in letter and spirit." 

He also expressed satisfaction on his recent talks with Sri Lankan special envoy Basil Rajapaksa.

Chennai, Oct 27: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today got an assurance from the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) party chief M Karunanidhi that he "would not precipitate" a crisis in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government over the Sri Lankan ethnic Tamils issue.

New Delhi, Oct 22 : The Union government has said that it has asked Colombo to ensure that the rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka do not get enmeshed in the hostilities and that their safety is not compromised after serious concern were raised over deteriorating humanitarian situation in the island nation.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in Lok Sabha today that Colombo has assured New Delhi that the safety and well being of the Tamil community there would be taken care of.
