New Delhi, Apr 1 : The Supreme Court on Wednesday postponed the hearing on the petition filed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family members challenging the institution of an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the disproportionate assets case.
A Bench of Justices Altmas Kabir and H L Dattu delayed the hearing as the judgment of a Constitution Bench on the authenticity of the court ordering CBI probe is awaited in the first week of May.
New Delhi, Mar 29 : The Election Commission has issued notice to the Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, for allegedly misbehaving with a senior officer in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing media persons, the Election Commissioner S. Y. Qureshi said the commission has given special directions to its officials to monitor the media so that suo moto action could be taken against candidates who are creating nuisance.
New Delhi, March 26 : The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday revealed that it was probing the origin of a "false, fabricated and forged" report which stated that the Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav had been "framed" in a disproportionate assets case.
CBI Director Ashwani Kumar said the agency would investigate the origin of the "report", which was claimed to be an internal report of the agency, and as to how it reached the media.
Lucknow, Mar 17 : In an attempt to make light of the controversy surrounding the seat-sharing issue between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh, SP chief Mulayam Singh said on Tuesday that he is willing to talk to the Congress to maintain an alliance with them.
Talking to the reporters here, Yadav said, "I am ready for the talks (on seat-sharing) if Congress wants. Sonia Gandhi should take a decision in the interest of her party."
Lucknow, Mar. 14 : Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has submitted his reply to the Election Commission after being noticed for distributing cash at a ''Holi Milan'' function at his native Saifai village.
"I have submitted the reply to the EC before the expiry of the deadline. We were asked to submit our reply by March 14, but we did it a day in advance. I am confident that the Commission will be satisfied with it," he said.
New Delhi/Lucknow, Mar 13 : As the Election Commission slapped a notice on Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav for violating the Model Code of Conduct, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also rapped Mulayam. The Congress, however, has played soft with its key ally.
