Prime Minister to inaugurate Indian Naval AcademyKannur, Jan 8: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the Naval Academy at Ezhimala in Kannur (Cannanore) district of Kerala today.

This Academy will be the premier officer-training establishment of the Indian Navy and will be the largest Naval Academy in Asia.

Commencing June 2009, all officers inducted into the Indian Navy, under various schemes, will undergo basic training at this Academy.

India briefs more envoys on Mumbai attacks

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Jan 7 : Continuing its diplomatic offensive against Pakistan, India briefed more envoys on the recent Mumbai attacks in New Delhi on Wednesday.

A group of diplomats from various countries including the United States of America, Britain, Croatia and Switzerland met External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

The envoys of Sri Lanka, Turkey and the Arab States, who were briefed on Tuesday, have condemned the terror attacks, which shook the Mumbai in November 2008.

Indian Navy’s largest academy in Asia to be inaugurated by PM on Jan.8New Delhi, Jan 7 : Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the largest naval academy in Asia at Ezhimala on January 8.

The Naval Academy at Ezhimala located in Kannur (Cannanore) district of Kerala, will be the premier officer-training establishment of the Indian Navy.

Pakistan has utilized terrorism as an instrument of State policy: PM

New Delhi, Jan 6 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today said that the recent terror attack on Mumbai was carried out by the Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba
(LeT) and he was convinced that some official agencies in Pakistan must have supported them

Inaugurating the Chief Minister''s conference on terror here, he said, "There is enough evidence to show that it must have the support of some official agencies there, given the sophistication and military precision of the attack."

Dr. Singh said Pakistan has utilized terrorism as an instrument of State policy.

Mumbai attack had support of official agencies in Pakistan: SinghNew Delhi - Evidence shows that the Mumbai terrorist attacks must have had the support of some official agencies in Pakistan, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Tuesday.

"The terrorist attack in Mumbai in November last year was clearly carried out by a Pakistan-based outfit, the Lashkar-e-Taiba," Singh said in his inaugural address at a conference of chief ministers to discuss India's internal security situation.

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Jan 5 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today condoled the passing away of the former Chief Minister of Tripura and Senior Congress leader Sudhir Ranjan Majumdar.

In his condolence message, Dr. Singh recalled Majumdar''s contribution of the development of the state.

"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the members of his bereaved family and to all those who followed him and respected him as their friend and leader," Dr. Singh said.
