Mumbai, April 9 : Veteran actress and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan, who turns 65 Tuesday, says her role as a mother matters more to her than any thing else. She also admits that she takes her duty as a parliamentarian seriously and that she is still game for movie roles, provided they are "challenging".

She gave up superstardom in 1973, when she ruled the box-office, to become wife to Amitabh Bachchan and subsequently mother to Shweta and Abhishek.

New Delhi, Jan 30 : The Bachchans have been accused by former IPS officer YP Singh for putting their money into a project, that has violated many BMC norms.

Singh has asserted in a press conference that though he cannot say that the Bachchan family gave a loan of Rs 9 crores to a real estate firm to build the mall in Mumbai, it is now clear that the mall is being built on illegal ground.

He also said that the Bachchan family must take the loan back and ask the BMC to demolish the partly-constructed mall.

New Delhi, June 3 : Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan celebrated their 38th marriage anniversary Friday and Big B shared the memories of his wedding day and honeymoon.

"After 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham' we faced the camera together for the first time (for the ad). We have done lots of films together and we were thinking that it's enough and we should stop doing films together.

New Delhi, March 23 : After facing the camera with his wife Jaya after a decade, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is convinced he wants to do a lot more work with her.

The power couple shot for an ad campaign for jewellery brand Tanishq in Mumbai Tuesday.

"Back from Tanishq shoot with Jaya... loved it... relaxed, well controlled atmosphere ... wife seemed happy and comfortable! Must get her in front of the cameras with me... she is such a natural! Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who will be hosting the fourth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), said that his loving wife Jaya supported him with his telly debut.

About his first day's experiences of anchoring KBC, Bachchan said, "I was scared and nervous not knowing what the public would have to say about the show, about my involvement and its eventual result."

Bachchan said he is very excited about hosting the fourth season of KBC.

Actress-politician Jaya Bachchan has rejected the Rajya Sabha nomination offered to her by the Samajwadi Party.

Mrs. Bachchan turned down the offer to re-nominate her for the Rajya Sabha election next month citing her family's displeasure.

In an interview, Junior Bachchan said, “Dad is an inspiration to the whole world. His creativity, dedication are legendary. He is a great source of inspiration. However, my acting style is more like my mother. I would like to believe that I have the best of both.”
