Obama links Pakistan aid to accountability on border security

Barack Obama, Pakistan, AfghanistanWashington, Jan. 22 : Non-military aid to Pakistan will increase only if it holds itself accountable for security in the border region with Afghanistan, says a new White House foreign policy agenda issued on Wednesday.

Afghanistan and Pakistan top this agenda, followed by nuclear weapons, Iran, energy security, Israel, bipartisanship and openness, in that order.

"Mr. Obama and Mr. Biden will refocus American resources on the greatest threat to our security - the resurgence of Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan,'' the statement said.

Obama to get his first taste of the "Roquefort war"

Barack ObamaParis - Among the many gifts Barack Obama received this week to celebrate his inauguration as the 44th president of the United States was a deluxe presentation box of French Roquefort cheese.

Little is known about Obama's cheese preferences, but it can be assumed that he will probably not be able to enjoy this Roquefort fully, because it will taste more than a little of international politics.

The cheese was a present from the president of the Roquefort-producing region of Midi-Pyrenees, Martin Malvy, to remind him that his predecessor, George W Bush, had reignited an old US-EU trade conflict just days before leaving office.

Rhymes, who gave a surprise performance at the Heineken-sponsored party, said having America's "first hip-hop President" was a signal rappers needed to change their tune.

Microsoft Word''s Spell check still not familiar with Barack Obama

Spell CheckerWashington, Jan 22 : Even though U. S. President Barack Obama's name is familiar all over the world, it isn't so on Microsoft Word''s spell check.

When the commander-in-chief's name and title is typed in, the programme suggests that there is an error in the spelling and further offers the correct words as `Barracks' and `Osama'.

Microsoft had, in the spring of 2007, added the word `Obama' to available updates for Word, and a spokesperson for the company has said that they always keep its products current.
